Leading the 3D Animation Department the 3D Animation Supervisor will support a team of animators to ensure that the team is following the style of the existing series and maintaining the integrity of the show.
• Work closely with the Episodic Director, Animation & Compositing Supervisors along with the 3D Animation team to complete work in accordance with the style of the show
• Ensure that all internal and external deadlines are met and flag problematic notes or potential bottlenecks to Production Manager and Line Producer
• Review leica and flag potential issues to production team prior to animation launches
• Attend animation launches, tech passes and screenings as needed
• Assign scenes and focus on strengths within the team when assigning workload
• Review animation completed by the team and assign revisions
• Review notes and assign revisions as called by the Director or Client
• Support and assist animators when necessary in terms of heavy revisions and basic technical questions
• Clean up submitted scenes from animators before approving through Shotgun
• Work with Scene Set Up to set up shots and communicate with other department leads when necessary to obtain what is needed for animation
• Pick up extra scenes when necessary to keep animation schedule on track
• Oversee and develop growth of animation team
• Resolve problems or concerns within the animation department in a productive and positive manner
• 2 + years of previous experience as a Senior Animator on an animated series
• Highly proficient in the use of Maya, with a strong understanding of the technical aspects
• Strong knowledge of animation principles with the ability to demonstrate and teach others
• Solid understanding of walk cycles, lip sync, and character timing
• Able to manage and mentor a team of 5-10 animators
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Effective problem-solving skills, solution-oriented
• Ability to work in a collaborative environment and take direction
• Pro-active with a strong attention to detail
• Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
• Ability to work flexible hours if and when necessary
